Ashes & Smoke

Ashes & Smoke is a family-run chimney-sweeping business based in Loughton, serving homes and properties across Essex, London and Hertfordshire. Its work covers open fires, woodburners, multi-fuel stoves and other types of chimney, using traditional and power-sweeping methods. The team says it is trained and registered with the National Association of Chimney Sweeps and specialises in historic and listed buildings.

Alongside sweeping, the business offers smoke-evacuation checks and certificates for home insurance, bird’s-nest removal, stove cleaning and maintenance, and CCTV inspections to identify blockages or damage. Chimney surveys for insurance purposes are also available. If you are new to using a fire or stove, you can ask about a practical training session covering safe and effective use.

The company’s approach is centred on explaining the work and sharing advice about appliances and fire safety. Its published customer comments also describe tidy, courteous service. Evening, weekend and emergency appointments are advertised, subject to arranging a visit.

Ashes & Smoke offers a separate wedding appearance service, bringing a chimney sweep to celebrations as a traditional good-luck guest. Packages can include time with guests and photographs, a keepsake, and other bespoke wedding-day roles. Its work may suit householders needing routine chimney or stove care, people responsible for older or listed properties, and couples interested in the wedding tradition.
