Alexander the Grate

Alexander The Grate is a family chimney-sweeping business based in Forton, serving the Chard, Axminster and Crewkerne area, as well as parts of South Somerset, East Devon and West Dorset. The husband-and-wife team offers chimney and flue sweeping alongside practical chimney-maintenance advice.

The service covers different types of flues and chimneys. Bird guards and cowls can also be supplied and fitted, and the business says it uses specialist rods and brushes with a high-powered vacuum fitted with a HEPA filter.

Care is taken to protect the home during the work, using covers and carpet runners to help leave rooms clean and tidy. A certificate is issued after sweeping, and the business states that it has public liability insurance and follows the APICS code of practice.

Whether you have a household fireplace or a business premises with an open fire, the team offers a straightforward, safety-minded service focused on keeping chimneys maintained.
